Ndawa given two games

Nyasa Big Bullets have given their coach Frank ‘Franco’ Ndawa a two game ultimatum in the TNM Super League or risk facing the chop.

The development follows the People’s Team’s unimpressive start to their league title defence in which they have won one   game and drawn the other three.

The club’s acting general secretary Kelvin Moyo yesterday confirmed the development, saying the executive committee is not impressed with the team’s performance.

“The [executive] board is not happy with the team’s performance. These are the same players who performed miracles last season, but now the team has lost its rhythm.

“We have dropped six points which is not good by our standards considering that we beefed up the squad with quality players during pre-season. We also raised salaries and game bonus for both the players and technical staff,” he said.

Moyo said the executive committee is also arranging to meet the players regarding the issue of performance.

“We were lucky to earn a point against Be Forward Wanderers after a below par performance, but we were unlucky not to win against Moyale. Nevertheless, generally our performance has not been impressive.”

Ndawa could not be reached for comment yesterday, but captain Chiukepo Msowoya admitted that the players are not meeting expectations.

“As captain, I am not aware of the meeting but our performance as players has not been good and we need to take the blame.

“We need to pull up our socks and play with passion. We need to demonstrate that we are serious with our career,” said Chiukepo in an interview yesterday.

Bullets, who defended the league title in spectacular fashion with a yawning 16-point gap, are on fifth position with six points.

Ironically, Bullets’ age-old rivals Be Forward Wanderers also have six points following a similar trend of results.
